Transport to and from Calgary Airport

Busses from Calgary International Airport to Canmore will be provided throughout the afternoon and into the evening on Sunday, June 2.

We have booked yellow school busses through Southland Transport; you will find them at the doors close to the international terminal. You may speak to any volunteer in a white cowboy hat for general directions (no affiliation with DW2019). We will not know the exact bus pickoff location until Sunday; keep an eye on this space or the transport channel.

Queries about transport can be found on the Dynamic Walking Slack channel. If you have not received an invitation to slack, contact the organizers at

On Friday, June 7, busses from Canmore to the Calgary International Airport will be provided throughout the morning and into the afternoon.

Exact departure times will be provided in the near future.

Please come prepared.

Canmore is a small mountain town. At this time of year weather can be quite changeable. The current forecast has daytime temperatures in the mid to high 20s C. Note that evening temperatures can be quite a bit lower than this. At the moment we are having some difficulty with smoke from forest fires in northern Alberta, but hopefully that won’t cause us too much trouble.

Monday and Tuesday afternoons we have arranged some activities, largely designed to bring large casual groups out to experience the mountains. Please make sure you bring appropriate footwear, sunscreen and a sun hat for outdoor activities.

At the conference centre on Sunday there will be directions to our ‘meet and greet’ event at the Spring Week Opera House - just a short walk from the conference centre. The Opera House will be open from 2-9PM and official check-in registration for the meeting will occur there (or in the conference centre on Monday morning). Light food and drinks will be available throughout the ‘meet and greet’ event.

Attendees are responsible for arranging their own accommodation.

The Coast Canmore Hotel [map] is the most convenient accommodation. It is attached to the conference center where the meeting will be held and the majority of meals served.
